Using the right elements to help yourself
Good and bad for your personal elements - Feng Shui Five Element cures / remedies
Wu Xing (五行, wu xing), or the Five Movements, Five Phases or Five Steps/Stages, sometimes translated as Five Elements, are chiefly an ancient mnemonic device, in many traditional Chinese fields. Therefore the preferred translation of "movements", "steps" or "phases" over "elements". Still most know the five elements as the more common layman phrase.
The five phases describes two cycles, a generating or creation (生, sheng) cycle, also known as "mother-son", and an overcoming or destruction (剋, ke) cycle, also known as "grandfather-nephew", of interactions between the phases.
In the ancient Chinese form of geomancy known as Feng Shui practitioners all based their art and system on the five elements. All of these element are represented within the Ba gua on the Luo Pan. Associated with these elements are colors, seasons and shapes, all of which interacts with each other.
Based on a particular directional energy flow from one phase to the next, the interaction can be productive, destructive, or exhaustive. With proper knowledge of the action and reaction of each elemental energy flow will enable the Feng Shui practitioner to apply certain cures or rearrangement of energy (rearrangement of furniture) in a way they believe to be beneficial for the receiver of the Feng Shui "Treatment or cure."
As I have touched in the first post on the productive and destructive of the five elements, the productive and destructive relationship between elements, here's the exhaustive side of the interactive elements.
Wood absorbs Water
Water rusts Metal
Metal breaks up Earth
Earth smothers Fire
